Fellow painter, Sarah, and I spent a weekend trying to see and paint studies of this view.  After lots of peek-a-boo weather in Glacier, WA for 3 days (see pic of just an hour before), we were finally rewarded with nearly a full view right at sunset- the smaller hump of Mt. Baker remained behind a cloud.  This scene was incredibly challenging to paint.  If you zoom in, you can see the miriad of colors on the mountain- each of which was necessary for the effect of rosy alpen glow. My sky is smooth, not "Brittified" because there is so much going on in this painting with the fog, alpen glow, rosy clouds, interesting tree.....
