How to Commission a Pet Portrait

How do I start the custom painting process?

  1. Contact me, below, or email me one or more photos. Include your size preference or your budget. Tell me about the personality of the animal you are honoring with this artwork.

  2. I will get back to you with 2-3 possible composition options and other notes.

  3. Once size and reference design is selected, you will receive a price quote for the painting, including sales tax as well as estimated shipping cost and a time estimate.

  4. I keep you apprised of the progress of the painting throughout, and will send you photos of your finished work for your approval.

  5. Once approved, you can pay in full.

  6. ( If you don’t love it, I will either modify to your satisfaction or you are free to walk away.  This hasn't happened yet-but I want you to know it's an option! )

  7. Your artwork is carefully packed in a box designed for shipping fine art paintings, and shipped as soon as possible after payment is received.

  8. Once your painting arrives, you will love it or send it back within 2 weeks for a refund  minus shipping costs both directions (this has never happened, but I want you to know it's an option!)

What does the base price include ? What about framing?

The base price includes a face/head painting of one animal on a flat board or canvas panel that is ready to frame.  I don't do framing in my studio at this time, but I can help you find the best resources to get the framing you want! Alternatively, for a small added fee you can have the portrait painted on a cradled panel (exposed wood edges 3/4 inch to 2 inches deep) or on a deep gallery edge canvas- both of  which can hang beautifully with no frame.

Additional pets, more of the pet's body, etc. cost extra, but you will always get a firm quote ahead of time so you'll know exactly how much the total price will be.

"I wanted to commemorate my husband’s first glacier climb.  Britt helped me select a photo from the climb.  She helped me to realize the ‘what’ that I was trying to capture in a painting.  I selected a challenging scene of mostly glacier snow and ice.   Britt was able to show the texture of the snow as well as capture the action of the climbers as they move up the glacier.  I am absolutely thrilled with how the painting came out.  I definitely recommend her as a painter of commissioned art!"
